Eagle, Idaho began as a small Treasure Valley village, which was only home to about 350 residents in 1970. Today, it’s a much larger area where over 25,000 people reside. Eagle’s earliest history began sometime around 1862 when miners discovered near the Boise Basin. Some people chose to pursue growing a fortune in mining, but a few knew that these mining towns also desperately needed agricultural products. One such early visionary was Truman C. Catlin, who first realized that the real gold was in farmland. He then claimed 160 acres on Eagle Island, which he originally named after his home state. Later, he renamed the area to reflect the dense bald eagle population that also called the island home.

Farming would continue to evolve in the area, especially around the time that irrigation canals were developed. Eagle, Idaho, is known for having fertile land thanks to the high water-table and yearly flooding.

As a suburb of Boise, Eagle has encountered a great deal of growth over the years, with most occurring since the 1970s. One of the first significant contributors was the Eagle Hills Golf Course. However, when Hewlett-Packard moved to the area, the growth really skyrocketed. By 1976, this growth had increased the demand for high-end subdivisions such as Banbury Estates. This would later pave the way for other prestigious Treasure Valley subdivisions in Eagle, including Two Rivers, Spurwing Country Club, Island Woods, and more.
